LAWRENCE, MA - The U.S. Coast Guard recently certified nora® rubber flooring products for use in all commercial and passenger marine vessels in international or domestic waters. nora® products have already been approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the international organization that regulates material on all international vessels and is governed in the United States by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The list of certified nora® products includes norament® 920 and all noraplan® products, with the exception of noraplan® acoustic. To earn Coast Guard certification, the nora® products passed stringent flammability tests, as well as smoke and toxicity tests conducted in independent European laboratories. Representatives of the testing laboratories also visited nora®'s manufacturing facilities to observe the manufacturing process, examine raw materials and check quality assurance.

According to Michael Sage, nora®'s market segment manager, transportation, "The IMO and U.S. Coast Guard approval processes are demanding, and very few products on the market have what it takes to earn certification. The IMO and Coast Guard approvals are a testament to the inherent high quality and the safety features of nora® products. These are standard products right off the shelf that consistently meet nora®'s own high standards, and, at the same time, they satisfy the strict certification requirements of the U.S. Coast Guard and IMO."
