Industrial rubber has been known since the beginning of the past century. nora systems (formerly Freudenberg Building Systems) started the production of U seals and shoe soles in the
30s of the past century.
Dr. Nürnberger was the chemist responsible for the development of rubber
compounds. The rubber floor covering nora® was named after the Latin
equivalent of his last name (Noribergensis).
At first, this was the brand name for shoe soles made of rubber until the end of
the 40s. When the production of floor coverings was started in 1949, this brand
name was also used for this business unit: nora® rubber floor coverings.
The rolls of vulcanized floorings were logically enough named noraplan®.
The production of norament® tiles in high-pressure presses commenced in
1967.
Today, the nora® brand is worldwide a synonym for top-quality rubber floor
coverings and footwear components.
